Barb Clapp - Founder and CEO

Barb Clapp, founder and CEO of Barb Clapp Advertising & Marketing brings over 24 years of advertising, marketing and business development expertise to her company. She has held Director of Sales and Business Development positions with several corporations, as well as spending several years in media sales and development.

Raised by a single working mother, Barb was a merit scholar and helped pay for her Mercy High School education. After graduation, she worked several jobs in order to finance 100% of her 4 year degree in English from Loyola College. She graduated as a Presidential Scholar and attained Deans list recognition for all eight semesters. Her post graduate work includes many courses in public relations, sales, management and marketing.

Barb began her career in advertising sales with the Times Publishing Group and went on to spend ten successful years with Watersprout Publishing. Her position at Watersprout reached beyond the advertising sales that she handled for the Baltimore Jewish Times and Style Magazine. She helped found the Palm Beach Jewish Times, and consulted for the Atlanta and Detroit papers as well.

Much of Barb's knowledge of the advertising industry came while handling a wide-variety of clients and industries. She developed strong relationships with her clients and became a trusted advisor to them on all aspects of their media, marketing, and advertising plans.

It was those advisory relationships that led to Barb’s idea of founding an agency that treated clients the way she thought they should be treated. Barb believes that advertising and marketing programs should have great creative, but also be business development and sales driven.

Married to Jon Clapp for twenty years, Barb is the mother of two teenage daughters and spends much of her free time volunteering in the community and serving on several local boards. Over the years, they have included Bryn Mawr School, Baltimore County Social Services, Top Brass for the Baltimore Symphony, Baltimore County Horse Show Association, Baltimore Homeless, and YWCA of the Greater Baltimore area to name a few. Barb most recently joined the boards of the Maryland SPCA and Mercy High School.
